TATA WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians registers Commanding 6-wicket Win over UP Warriorz

Mumbai Indians secured a 6-wicket win over UP Warriorz in Match 16 of the TATA Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. With this win, MI has secured second place in the points table with 8 points and NRR +0.267.
Amelia Kerr's impressive five-wicket haul, Hayley Matthews' 68 off 46, and Nat Sciver-Brunt's 37 off 23 led to the match's victory. This marked UPW's second consecutive home defeat, and Amelia became the first bowler to claim a fifer this season wearing the purple cap, whereas Hayley Matthews received the 'Player of the Match' title for her stylish knock.
UP Warriorz started strong with a competitive opening stand between Grace Harris (28 off 25) and Georgia Voll (55 off 33). However, Hayley Matthews broke the 74-run stand and dismissed Grace with a bouncer. Georgia reached her maiden fifty, but Nat Sciver-Brunt dismissed her. MI's spin duo, Amelia (5/38) and Hayley (2/25), increased pressure on the middle order, leading to wickets falling and UPW limped to 150/9 in 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians started their chase with a strong 92-run stand between Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt, combining power and elegance. Matthews and Sciver-Brunt scored three consecutive boundaries, raising a 50-run stand. However, Deepti Sharma removed Sciver-Brunt, leaving MI 35 runs behind. Matthews continued her onslaught before falling to Kranti Goud, later UPW dismissed skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, but Yastika Bhatia and Amanjot Kaur managed to secure the win with a boundary scoring 153/4 in 18.3 overs.
