TATA WPL 2024: MI Registers 7-Wicket Win over RCB

The match 9 of the TATA Women's Premier League 2024 (TATA WPL) was the most exciting match for the Mumbai Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore fans as it was their first match in the respective tournament. However, the MI women gave a dominating performance to their opponent and registered a victory by 7 wickets. Their impressive bowling performance restricted the home side to a score of 131/6 in 20 overs.

The RCB Women, despite performing phenomenally in the initial 2 matches, have lost to Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the next two matches of the league. Mumbai Indians led by Nat Sciver Brunt in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to field first. At the initial overs during the powerplay, MI managed to grab three crucial wickets for RCB where Captain Smriti Mandhana lost to Issy Wong's ball. Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt further grabbed power player, S Meghana's wicket leading to the pavilion whereas Saika Ishaque took off Sophie Devine after an LBW.

In the second innings, MI batters showcased an aggressive approach to chase the target of 132 runs. Amelia Kerr made the highest 40* off 24 for her team's victory chase. Further, Yastika Bhatia with 31 off 15, and Hayley Matthews with 26 off 21 together smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Mumbai Indians have registered back-to-back wins in the TATA WPL 2024 tournament and with that victory, they have moved to the top of the table. Amelia Kerr registers as the top scorer for Mumbai Indians and receives the Player of the Match award. The electric striker and Sintex Six of the Match was grabbed by Yastika Bhatia.
