Tata Electronics Launches CSR Initiatives for Morigaon Communities

The Morigaon district administration and Tata Electronics (Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt. Ltd. – TSAT) have jointly launched a series of community development initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare, education and women's empowerment across the district. The programmes were inaugurated on July 24, 2026, at Jagiroad College by District Commissioner Anamika Tewari in the presence of Tata Electronics officials, district administration representatives, line department officials and other dignitaries.

• Five government schools and 400 TB patients will benefit from the community programmes

Addressing the gathering, Anamika emphasised that strong partnerships between government, industry and local communities are essential for achieving inclusive and sustainable development. She expressed confidence that the initiatives would enhance healthcare services, improve educational infrastructure and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in Morigaon.

A key highlight of the programme is Project Chameli, a women empowerment initiative designed to create employment opportunities for young women from tea-tribe communities. Under the project, ten women will undergo Tea Walkthrough Experience Training to develop tea tourism guiding skills, strengthen communication abilities and improve their employability within Assam's growing tourism sector.

In the healthcare segment, Tata Electronics launched a sustained hygiene and cleanliness initiative at Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital to enhance infection prevention and maintain a safer healthcare environment. The company has also adopted 150 tuberculosis patients under the PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by providing nutritional support, while the adoption process for another 250 patients is currently underway.

Recognising the company's contribution towards tuberculosis care, the Joint Director of Health Services presented the Nikshay Mitra Certificate to Tata Electronics during the event.

The education component focuses on upgrading infrastructure across five government schools: Nakhola High School, Bapuji High School, Jagiroad Higher Secondary School, Gopal Krishna High School and Sahid Lakhi Deka High School. The initiative includes the construction of toilet blocks, mid-day meal kitchens and dining areas, installation of smart classrooms and STEM laboratories, provision of safe drinking water facilities, green boards and classroom furniture to improve learning environments for students.

Tata Electronics reaffirmed its commitment to creating meaningful social impact through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The Morigaon district administration also acknowledged the company's continued support in advancing inclusive development across the district.

The community initiatives complement Tata Electronics' ongoing ₹27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility under development at Jagiroad, which broke ground in 2024. Alongside the industrial investment, the CSR programmes demonstrate the company's focus on delivering tangible community benefits by improving public healthcare, strengthening educational facilities and expanding livelihood opportunities for local women.
