On the sixth death anniversary of late Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, the Cultural Educational and Environmental Organisation (CEEO) India on Wednesday declared the setting up of the Sushma Swaraj School of Excellence in Budgam district of central Kashmir.
In a release on Tuesday, CEEO India announced that the program is focused on gender empowerment and leadership development in the region. The school will provide specialized programs in education, skill development, entrepreneurship, and global policy awareness with the aim of developing capable and confident women leaders.
Sushma Swaraj was not just a politician—she was a global stateswoman with warm diplomacy that bonded India with the world," said Subhrangshu Sanyal, Country Director of CEEO India. "This school is our tribute to the development of a new wave of women leaders who will continue her legacy in the world.
Praised for her friendly and people-centric approach as India's External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj became globally celebrated for her humanitarian diplomacy and effective use of social media to provide relief to suffering Indians abroad. She was also appreciated for enunciating India's stance on key global issues as well as for advancing ties with nations such as Iran, particularly through her people-to-people connects with the Shia community, which CEEO India labeled a great diplomatic achievement.
Organizational officials indicated that the new school will provide specialized programs for women and girls from Kashmir to empower them as educated citizens who can help India's soft power and international engagement.
"Kashmir was very close to her heart," a CEEO India official said. "Whenever we met her in Delhi, we experienced her warmth and mentoring. She had unflinching faith in the potential of this region."
CEEO India said the Sushma Swaraj School of Excellence will soon become operational as a revolutionary platform for empowering women and developing international visions from Budgam.
