Soumya Gupta Joins Prudential Financial as VP of Responsible AI

Soumya Gupta has joined Prudential Financial as Vice President – Responsible AI and Authoritative Data Source Assurance, bringing more than two decades of experience across data transformation, agile leadership, technology delivery, product ownership, systems analysis and enterprise transformation. In her new role, she will focus on strengthening the organisation's Responsible AI strategy, governance frameworks and data assurance practices.

Her responsibilities will include advancing trustworthy AI practices, overseeing authoritative data sources supporting AI systems, strengthening data integrity and enabling enterprise technology transformation. She will also work towards balancing technological innovation with appropriate risk management, transparency and accountability.

Sharing the news of her appointment on LinkedIn, Soumya expressed enthusiasm about taking on the new responsibility and highlighted the growing importance of trust and governance as artificial intelligence reshapes financial services.

Soumya further outlined her focus areas, including Responsible AI strategy, governance and assurance, AI risk management, authoritative data source assurance and data integrity. She also aims to strengthen transparency and accountability while enabling innovation within robust risk and control frameworks.

Before joining Prudential Financial, Soumya spent over seven years at Chubb, where she held several leadership positions, including Vice President – Data Transformation Leader, Vice President – Execution Leader, Assistant Vice President – Senior Scrum Leader, and Senior Scrum Leader. Earlier, she worked as Agile Transformation Leader at Synchronoss Technologies and Senior Delivery Lead at Stanley Gibbons Ltd.

She also spent more than five years at Bed Bath & Beyond as a Product Owner, managing technology projects, designing applications, and collaborating with business stakeholders on IT solutions. Her earlier professional experience includes working as Lead Analyst at Schering-Plough, now part of Merck, and undertaking consulting assignments with IEEE and the Victims of Crime Compensation Board. She began her career as a System Engineer at Logic Information Systems.

Her professional background spans enterprise change management, AI and digital adoption, operational excellence and large-scale organisational transformation. She has also worked across people, processes, data and technology, helping organisations implement sustainable transformation initiatives.
