SMFG India Credit Launches Paid Menstrual Leave for Women Employees

- SMFG India Credit has introduced the Paid Menstrual Leave Policy for women employees
- The policy allows one auto-approved paid leave per month
- This policy will go into effect on December 2, 2025
SMFG (India) Credit has announced the launch of its Paid Menstrual Leave Policy for women employees across India which guarantees all women employee’s one paid menstrual leave automatically at the start of each month without needing manager approval or a doctor’s note.
As of December 2, 2025, this policy further demonstrates SMICC’s care, compassion and commitment to gender equality. Several states/territories across the country are implementing similar policies but SMICC made a decision to implement this benefit throughout its branches.
With the new policy, all women employees will be allowed to take one automatic paid menstrual leave each month, along with regular sick-days or vacation time. The leave will automatically be approved and can only be used during the month it is issued.
This initiative supports SMICC’s goal of providing an inclusive working environment that supports women’s health and acknowledges and meets their diverse needs.
According to Ravi Narayanan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SMFG (India) Credit, the trend towards implementing employee-centric policies are increasing among today’s corporations.
He also stated that having a policy providing women employees with time off during their monthly cycles aligns with SMICC's commitment to providing an inclusive and respectful environment for women's needs.
In its drive to create an inclusive workplace, the company has established a programme called `Untagged' which is focused on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion by supporting women in the workforce.
The company's commitment to female empowerment is demonstrated via a number of women-centric wellness initiatives, including creche facilities available within Centres of Excellence, IVF assistance, OPD consultations and comprehensive pregnancy package
Additionally, SMICC is also focused on creating inclusive people practices by developing programming specifically aimed at mid- to senior-level women leaders.
SMICC is conducting sensitisation and training programmes to help change the mindset regarding gender stereotypes and creates a culture that is respectful and equitable in the workplace.
