Womenpreneurs Encouraged to Use GST Reforms at PITEX 2025

- Women entrepreneurs were encouraged by the easier rules under GST and government's support
- Members of PHDCCI called for greater opportunities and market share for women-led enterprises
- The session took place on the first day of PITEX 2025
Women entrepreneurs should avail themselves fully of the simplified GST norms and the support extended by the government during the opening day seminar of the 19th Punjab International Trade Expo, PITEX 2025.
At the “Vision to Venture: Inspiring Women Founders” panel discussion, speakers from various business sectors and trade bodies shared practical pointers on business growth and women’s empowerment with more than 150 delegates.
The session was chaired by Bharti Sood, Senior Regional Director, PHDCCI, and Karan Gilhotra, Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI.
Poonam Thakur, HPRS, Assistant Commissioner, State Taxes and Excise, Himachal Pradesh, urged women to avail themselves of the simplified GST procedures and ongoing compliance reforms.
She said the government was ‘walking extra miles to make business processes easier’ and suggested that entrepreneurs should establish their ventures on strong principles.
Harpreet Kaur, a health and wellness entrepreneur from Amway India, urged young women to take on leadership roles while balancing personal well-being with professional goals.
Vibha Bawa, convener of PHDCCI’s steering committee on Ayurveda, advocated the inclusion of small ayurvedic practices in daily life that could boost resilience and clarity.
Gravity Events' Chief Executive Officer, Sukhpreet Kaur Bajwa, identifies as a top priority internal wellness and supportive workplace environments in industries that do not contain many female employees.
As Co-Convener of the Media, Sports & Entertainment Committee at PHDCCI, Shuchi Singh expects the media to promote more stories about female business leaders with an uplifting message; and as Adjunct Faculty at Hult International Business School, Bharti Sood believes the insights from the panellists will inspire many more women entrepreneurs to step out and grow their businesses and create the future of the entrepreneurial landscape for this country.
