India's Shafali Verma Among ICC Player of the Month Nominees

  • She played an important role in the Women's World Cup Final, helping India win its first-ever title

Shafali Verma from India was nominated for November’s ICC Men’s Player of the Month due to her great performance during the ICC Women’s World Cup Final resulting in India’s first World Cup Title.

UAE’s Esha Oza and Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong were also nominated for their performances during the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy.

Shafali was a last-minute addition to Team Indias’ roster; she played a key role in the final match scoring 87 runs off a total of 78 balls with an average strike rate of 111.53.

In addition to her batting efforts in November, Shafali also captured two important wickets of both Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp, allowing only 36 runs in seven overs while breaking up both batswomen’s partnerships in an increasingly tense situation for her team both pitching and batting.

Thailand's Putthawong had a phenomenal month, inspiring her nation's team towards a triumphant victory in the 2023 ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy. Throughout the course of the competition, she collected 15 wicket-takers (the third most in the tournament).

Among Thipatcha's finest performances occurred when she achieved a total of four wickets during the finals against Scotland at an average economy of 4.25.

UAE's Esha Oza was another player who excelled at the tournament. Over seven T20I matches she accumulated 187 runs with an excellent strike rate of 137.50, and also claimed seven wickets (averaging 18.14).

During her best game of the tournament, against Namibia, Oza scored an unbeaten 68 runs and secured two wickets, helping her team to victory by 28 runs.
