Qatar Chamber organized a dialogue session for women entrepreneurs, a gathering of women business leaders to share experiences and learn about the elements of operating and expanding a business, which included customer expectations, branding, business development, and adapting to changing market conditions.

This session was organized by Women Entrepreneurs Community (WEC), a Community under Youth Initiatives Incubator (YII) of the Ministry of Sports and Youth with the Young Entrepreneurs Club (YEC). The discussion was not about entrepreneurship in itself, but about experiences of running businesses and the choices entrepreneurs make as they develop their businesses.

Hamda Al Kaabi, head of the Women Entrepreneurs Community initiative, emphasized the need to create an environment for the female entrepreneurs to have authentic and practical discussions. The project aims to bring individuals who own businesses at various stages together and facilitating the sharing of ideas, insights, and experiences from their own entrepreneurial experiences.

Key Highlights

  • Doha dialogue focused on priorities facing women-owned businesses.
  • Entrepreneurs discussed branding, customers and changing market conditions.
  • Session encouraged practical learning, networking and business connections.

Customer expectations emerged as one of the key areas of discussion. Businesses' ability to remain relevant was discussed, as well as the careful monitoring of consumer preferences and the adjustment of products, services and positioning based on them.

The realities of running a business after its infancy also were discussed. Business owners spoke of the need for consistency and flexibility, especially in times of market shifts or customer preferences. They said practical experience can be a significant factor for making informed business decisions and in navigating these changes.

A Q&A session was also held, providing an additional layer to the session and giving people a chance to discuss challenges they faced in starting and running their business. The exchange allowed a journey to explore common business scenarios in the context of other entrepreneurs' experiences instead of theoretical approaches.

Networking was also a crucial component of the event. Relationships between existing business owners and new entrepreneurs can help transfer knowledge as well as provide opportunities for networking and future business opportunities.

The event is part of the activities that are facilitated through the Youth Initiatives Incubator and the Young Entrepreneurs Club, which are both intended to engage the youths in entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Women Entrepreneurs Community is part of this larger initiative to build relationships between existing and new women entrepreneurs. These forums offer women entrepreneurs the opportunity to connect with other businesswomen, share practical knowledge and foster networking opportunities to facilitate further business growth.
