India Wins Historic Women's Skeet Bronze at Asian Games 2026

India secured a historic bronze medal in women’s team skeet at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, marking the country’s first-ever podium finish in the women’s team skeet event at the continental Games.

The Indian trio of Raiza Dhillon, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal combined for 331 points across the qualification rounds at the Aichi Shooting Range to finish third. China claimed gold with 357 points, while Kazakhstan took silver with 336.

The result marked an important milestone for India’s skeet shooting campaign, with the discipline historically producing fewer major international medals for the country than rifle and pistol events.

Raiza and Parinaaz also progressed to the women’s individual skeet final after their performances in qualification. However, neither managed to secure an individual medal. Raiza finished fourth with 23 points, narrowly missing the bronze medal, while Parinaaz placed eighth with eight points.

Raiza and Parinaaz both recorded 111 points out of 125 during qualification, while Maheshwari contributed 109 to India’s team total. Their consistent performances across the three-day qualification phase helped India secure its place on the podium.

For Raiza, the team bronze provided a positive outcome despite her disappointment in the individual final. She credited the team’s preparation and support system, including international coaching and technical assistance facilitated by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The Indian skeet shooters received congratulations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu following their podium finish. Raiza also dedicated the medal to her parents, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), SAI, Olympic Gold Quest, Jindal Steel and her wider support team.

The medal added to a strong campaign for India’s shooting contingent at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The discipline had already produced several medals across rifle and pistol events before the women’s skeet team reached the podium.

India’s performance also highlighted the growing presence of women’s skeet shooting in the country. The historic bronze gives the trio a place in Indian shooting history while adding another medal to the nation’s expanding tally at the 2026 Asian Games.

With several shooting events remaining, India will continue its campaign across rifle, pistol and mixed-team competitions in Nagoya.
