Purnima Kumar Appointed EVP of HR & Total Rewards at JioStar

- Purnima Kumar has been made EVP, Human Resources and Total Rewards, JioStar
- She will lead people strategy for the company's digital and sports businesses
- The emphasis will be on talent development and support for business growth
Purnima Kumar has been named Executive Vice President, Human Resources (Digital, Sports), and Total Rewards of JioStar, taking on an enlarged role that encompasses people strategies related to the digital businesses and sports assets of the company, besides retaining supervision of compensation and total rewards functions.
In this role, Purnima will be spearheading transformation programs in respect of people transformation for JioStar's digital and sports businesses.
The move highlights JioStar's emphasis on aligning people strategy with business expansion in its streaming and sports offerings.
Purnima has been playing the role of the HR chief for the digital and sports operations of the company JioStar.
It’s an indication that the company believes she has the capability to extend her talent, capability, and reward frameworks to its media and sports ventures. This becomes her next big promotion.
She was previously a Head of Total Rewards, People Programmes, Talent Acquisition, and Co-Lead, Joint Venture Integration at JioStar.
In this role, she was responsible for the overall rewards, people programmes, and talent acquisition function as well as the joint venture integration efforts aimed at the development of the business organization.
Prior to his role with JioStar, Purnima had over four years of experience with The Walt Disney Company as Executive Director, Talent Acquisition and People Strategy and Programs for India networks including Star India, Disney+ Hotstar, and Disney.
In an earlier phase in her professional life, she had more than 16 years of experience at Accenture in leading international and regional human resources.
These roles include recruitment operations, human resource transformation, strategic sourcing, candidate experience, and leading human resources for different functions and regions.
