BCCI Extends Equal Pay to Domestic Cricket for Men & Women

By: WE staff | Tuesday, 23 December 2025

  • BCCI is offering equal salaries in domestic matches for male and female players
  • It is based on the equal pay system introduced for senior national teams in 2022
  • This comes after India won their first senior women’s ODI World Cup title in November 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rolled out its equal pay policy to domestic cricket as well, bringing domestic cricket matches of male and female players almost on par with each other.

This was announced on December 22nd, 2025, during an Apex Council meeting, as a continuation of their pay equality policy announced for senior national teams in 2022. This comes with India’s first win of the senior women’s ODI World Cup in November 2025.

According to the new format, players participating in the national level one-day and multi-day matches for senior women’s domestic teams will be paid Rs 50,000 per day for playing XI members, increased from Rs 20,000. Reserve players will be paid Rs 25,000 per day, increased from Rs 10,000.

Additionally, players participating in T20 matches will take home Rs 25,000 per match for playing XI members, increased from Rs 12,500. Junior levels, ranging from under 23 years and 19 years, have also experienced an increase.

Playing XI players will be given Rs. 25,000 per day and the reserves will be given Rs. 12,500 per day. In T20 matches, playing XI players will be given Rs. 12,500 per match and the reserves will be given Rs. 6,250. There can be an increase in match fees during the knock-out phase, which can go from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per day,

Regarding men’s domestic cricket and the Ranji Trophy, match allowances remain payable for first-class cricket matches at different scales depending on the total appearances in the Ranji Trophy.

Participants in the Playing XI may take home between Rs 40,000 and Rs 60,000 daily, depending on their experience, while reserve players take Rs 25,000 per day as half the applicable sum.

When a senior player makes it to the final rounds of a full Ranji season, he or she stands to gain no more than Rs 25 lakh, while non-playing players collect Rs 25,000 daily.

The restructured overall is approximately 2.5 times greater for Women's domestic match fees than it was before.

This revised structure will decrease historic differences in payments, bring domestic structures more closely in line with each other across both Men and Women, and will also assist with the development of talent through both State and Grassroots programs in addition to other platforms like the Women's Premier League.
