Punjab Agricultural University's (PAU) Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) students took an inspiring initiative to conduct a specialized training program aimed at empowering the self-help group (SHG) women from Nurpur Bet village. The event focused on imparting valuable knowledge on bakery product preparation and entrepreneurship, orchestrated by the Skill Development Centre of PAU.
Kuldeep Kaur, a key figure from the Skill Development Centre, provided hands-on guidance in creating a variety of bakery items, including cakes, biscuits, and muffins. Her demonstration was a practical and informative session enabling the women, particularly from rural backgrounds, to explore the entrepreneurial training opportunities provided by PAU.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh, the esteemed Head of the Department of Extension Education at PAU, shared insights into self-employment prospects within agriculture and allied fields. He illustrated the success stories of rural artisans and entrepreneurs from the Saras Mela held at PAU, emphasizing the significant economic progress achieved through the sale of their handmade products.
The commendable efforts of Kuldeep Kaur in supporting self-employed entrepreneurs, particularly those involved in crafting traditional handicrafts like phulkaris, earned praise from Dr. Devinder Tiwari.
Dr. Lavleesh Garg presented valuable information about the Udyam Scheme by the Central Government, specifically designed to empower women, underscoring its significance in fostering entrepreneurship.
Village Sarpanch Sukhbir Kaur, a driving force behind more than five SHGs in the village, enthusiastically encouraged SHG members to make the most of the programs offered by PAU. She extended appreciation to the RAWE students for their dedicated efforts, instilling inspiration among the women to embrace the knowledge and resources provided to them by the university.
