India & Germany drawn in Women's Hockey Olympic Qualifiers

The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers for the Paris Games will be organized in Ranchi from 13 January 2024 to 19 January 2024.

India, along with Germany and six other nations, will compete in the women's FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers for the Paris Games. The Paris Hockey qualifying tournament in Ranchi will feature teams from New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the USA, Italy, and the Czech Republic, where the top three teams will be selected for the Olympics.

Germany is the top-ranked team placed at World No. 5 whereas the Indian women's hockey team is recognized as the second-best team which is placed at World No. 6 after winning the Asian Champions Trophy.

The six teams are ranked as New Zealand at World No. 9, Japan at World No. 11, Chile at World No. 14, the USA at World No. 15, Italy at World No. 19, and Czech Republic at World No. 25.

Valencia, Spain, will host the second women's Olympic qualifying tournament, following the format of the Ranchi event, with six slots determined through the two qualifying rounds.

The Olympic Qualifiers schedule will be released later. Winners of the continental championships, Australia, Netherlands, China, Argentina, and South Africa, along with France have qualified directly for Paris 2024, with 12 teams per gender.

Valencia hosts one men's qualifying tournament while Muscat will host the second tournament. Men's events will follow the same format as of women's hockey tournament. The Paris Hockey Tournament at Yves-du-Manoir stadium will take place from 27 July 2024 to 9 August 2024.

Indian men's team, winning gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games, qualified directly for the Olympics, while the women's team finished third for bronze.

Women's Olympic Qualifying Groups:

Ranchi, India: Germany, India, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the United States, Italy, and the Czech Republic.

Valencia, Spain: Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, Korea, Ireland, Canada, Malaysia and Ukraine.

Men's Olympic Qualifying Groups:

Muscat, Oman: Great Britain, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, Pakistan, Canada, Chile, and China.

Valencia, Spain: Belgium, Spain, Korea, Ireland, Japan, Austria, Egypt and Ukraine.
