Palki Sharma Resigns as Managing Editor of Firstpost

Palki Sharma, an influential Indian news anchor has stepped down from her position as Managing Editor for Firstpost news organisation. She was a key player in Firstpost's editorial decision making process and also launched Vantage, the flagship programme, and gave it an Indian perspective on world events.

Palki's exit will mark the end of a chapter at Firstpost where she is not only helped create Vantage but also was instrumental in the development of the editorial team, operational excellence and creating a culture of excellence in journalism. Her leadership elevated coverage and provided global coverage with clarity and insight.

Santosh Menon, Head of Editorial and Content for Digital Operations at News18, sent out a memo expressing his disappointment regarding Palki's resignation.

"I write with a heavy heart to announce an important leadership update. Palki has decided to move on to pursue new opportunities after an extraordinary tenure as Managing Editor... During her time at Firstpost, she was a key contributor in launching Vantage and establishing its editorial tone," Santhosh stated.

He also appreciated Palki’s presence on screen. “She anchored the show with clarity, insight, and dedication, presenting global news through an Indian perspective, earning widespread acclaim,” he said.

He also recognized her contribution was not limited to her presence on screen. “In addition to her on-air responsibilities, she was instrumental in building a strong editorial team and a culture of journalistic excellence. We thank her for her contributions and wish her success in her future entrepreneurial pursuits,” he said.

Palki’s vast experience (close to 25 years) includes working for various prestigious media houses across India including ITVNetwork, Network 18, Doordarshan News & The Hindustan Times.

She has an extraordinary gift of breaking down international events into simple, understandable pieces while providing a distinctively Indian perspective.

With the departure of Palki, Firstpost has appointed Binoy Prabhakar as the new Chief Content Officer (CCO). Binoy has been with several leading news organizations throughout his career and brings with him considerable industry experience.
