NIT Trichy Organizes Workshop with Focus on Women's Empowerment

  • NIT-Trichy has launched a five-day workshop on women’s empowerment, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology
  • The workshop is focused on practical skills for women in business using the Thirumathikart application

The National Institute of Technology, Trichy (NIT-T), in association with the Department of Science and Technology, has initiated a five-day workshop, "Empowering Women in Business with Practical Skills: Training on Thirumathikart Application." The objective is to empower women entrepreneurs through training on practical skills. Free stalls on campus have also been made available for self-help group (SHG) members to promote sales of their products. It is tailored to improve the entrepreneurial capabilities of women and market their enterprises.

The workshop was opened by Dr. S. Suresh, Project Director, Mahalir Thittam, and presided by Dr. G. Aghila, Director, NIT-T. With Dr. M. Brindha (Principal Investigator) and Dr. N. Sivakumaran (Co-Principal Investigator) as guides, the program is designed to empower women with necessary digital business skills.

Dr. Suresh welcomed government efforts encouraging women entrepreneurs and pointed out the ways in which Thirumathikart assists SHG members in enhancing their businesses via the platform. Dr. Aghila pointed out the pivotal role of education in empowering women and encouraged the participants to follow lifelong learning and self-enhancement. Dr. Brindha described the advantage of the platform, while Dr. Sivakumaran recognized the teamwork that went into creating the initiative.
