An improved performance in the Women’s Premier League for Delhi Capitals has been anticipated by South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp. The team has back-to-back matches scheduled from January 10 against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants.

Marizanne will also be returning to the same venue of the WPL, namely the DY Patil Stadium, where South Africa had played their first ICC Women's World Cup Final and had emerged as runners-up to the Indian team.

"It's emotional but results are what they are and can't be turned around," she told media regarding her emotional feelings about returning to the venue.

Marizanne congratulated the Indian team on the success of the Women's World Cup and added that WPL has been responsible for the advancement of Women's Cricket there.

She stated: "These leagues like the WPL have increased the level of play and have gone a long way in promoting women’s cricket. With the recent win in the World Cup, the league is set to benefit as it will attract more international talent."

As Kapp pointed out, the WPL has an impact on promoting women’s cricket not only due to its league structure

Speaking on leadership changes at Delhi Capitals, Marizanne stated that their captain Jemimah Rodrigues has dealt with the pressure before, so she can lead them to victory in WPL after their three previous final appearances. "It would be exciting to play under Jemimah, she has a certain leadership style," she stated.

Marizanne reflected on her own experiences and stated that leagues where her team is a franchise have added greatly to her growth and improvement as a cricketer. She has the experience of 24 WPL matches, where she has scored a total of 362 runs and 28 wickets.
