Retd Justice Rajendra Menon, chairman Armed Forces Tribunal and former chief justice Delhi High Court, was the chief guest. Looking back to his early days as a law student—when there were hardly two women in his batch—he was happy with the way women have progressed in the legal community since then. Speaking to the new students, he informed them of the necessity of commitment, determination, and a refusal to compromise on justice in the establishment of a productive legal career.
He reminded the students that reading widely, learning case facts, and developing healthy judgment are foundational stones of the profession. "Learning never ceases in the legal profession," he explained, encouraging them to adapt to lifelong learning as future guardians of justice.
Anju Vali Tikoo of Delhi University, guest of honour, valued the efforts of the university in shaping future legal professionals. She also talked about the life of Dr Rajendra Prasad as a symbol of justice, social responsibility, and sympathy in her address and requested the students to adopt these virtues.
Vice chancellor Usha Tandon welcomed the dignitaries and incoming class of students, noticing the large number of women in the new intake. She noted law as an excellent tool of social transformation and highlighted the qualities of discipline, awareness, and presence of mind on the legal journey that awaits them.
