- Nike has partnered with Sisters in Sweat (SIS), India's largest women-only sports and wellness community
- Through the multiyear partnership, more women will be encouraged to move with joy and confidence
- It will make sports more inclusive, accessible and enabling for women across India
Nike has come together with Sisters in Sweat (SIS), India's largest women's sports and wellness community, to inspire more women throughout the country to take up movement, sport, and confidence. The long-term partnership will bring more women access to empowering and positive fitness experiences, beginning with a multi-city football tournament.
Established in 2017 by Swetha Subbiah, a Nike-certified fitness trainer, and Tanvie Hans, the first woman of Indian origin to have played for UK football clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham Ladies, SIS was designed with the purpose of establishing a safe space for women to meet through sport. It now has a membership of 10,000-strong across Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, providing more than 30 sports and movement activities.
This partnership supports Nike's very popular After Dark Tour—India's largest-ever women's 10K event—and indicates the company's ongoing commitment to the empowerment of causes for women and fitness for everybody.
Nike will donate shoes, apparel, and sports know-how to SIS's city-by-city initiatives so more women can experience the joy and social connection of sport.
"Nike believes in the potential of sport to change the world for the better," said Tarundeep Singh, General Manager, Nike India. "We are excited to partner with Sisters in Sweat, who are making such a positive impact building community and confidence in women here in India."
For Swetha, the collaboration takes her full circle. “As a longtime Nike ambassador, it’s deeply meaningful to now co-create something on this scale. We’re empowering thousands of women to reclaim their space in sport,” she said.
