- Jemimah Rodrigues has been retained by the Southern Brave franchise for the 2026 season of the Women's Hundred
- The move further underscores her connection with one of the top franchises in England
- It underscores her increasing importance in international women’s T20
The next big step for Indian player Jemimah Rodrigues to take on the big stage is her announcement to play for Southern Brave in the Women’s Hundred League in the upcoming season of 2026.
Jemimah change signals a fresh dimension in her commitment towards one of the top teams in England, which is also instrumental in fortifying his reputation as top-tier women’s T20 and short-format cricketers globally.
She played 18 matches and scored 453 runs with an average strike rate of 137.68. This competition demands high-quality hitting and acceleration from batters as the format of the game requires hitting fifty in fewer balls.
"Her signing highlights the growing requirement for Indian players in foreign franchise leagues." Jemimah will be just the sixth Indian woman to ply her trade in the Women's Hundred, an elite group already featuring the big names of Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, and Richa Ghosh.
It had already been observed with their past experience with Northern Superchargers that Rodrigues is comfortable with English climate as well as the tactical elements of the hundred formats. Then again, the game is compressed even further compared to the general T20 format with the two sides having only 100 balls to be able to score as many as they can.
There is no other option but to be creative for the batters right from the start, while for the bowlers, there is always a need to be different with their deliveries every time.
Jemimah’s inclusion in this list can certainly be justified. Over the years, Rodrigues has made a strong case as one of India’s best and safest batters across all formats of cricket.
Her technical abilities and her aggression as a batter have made her an effective option in all roles and are best exhibited in a tournament like the Hundred
