INR 2,900 Crore Sanctioned for Tripura Women Entrepreneurs

Women from the state of Tripura are gradually being encouraged and included in entrepreneurship and skill development training sessions, courtesy of the numerous government programs initiated by the Government of India.
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, has disclosed via a written reply to Rajya Sabha that 1,697 women resident in Tripura were given training under PMJANMAN during the last three years which suggests efforts are being made to promote participation by women in Tribal Development.
9,742 women were trained under the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) by to raise Employment and Self-employment between financial years 2022-23 & 31st October 2025 in the State of Tripura.
In technical education, the total number of women enrolled under the Craftsmen Training Scheme in Industrial Training Institutes or ITIs for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024 is 721, 704, and 671, respectively.
As many as 10,851 women were trained under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission, while livelihood placements of 8,080 were facilitated in Tripura. The RSETIs in the state received cumulative funding of ₹ 575.21 crore in four years to support such initiatives.
SVEP has supported the setting up of 1,739 enterprises in Tripura in the last three years for promotion of rural enterprise.
Support for women-led micro-enterprises was extended through margin money subsidy. An amount of ₹ 12.43 crore was disbursed to 533 enterprises under general schemes during FY 2022-23 to FY 2024-25, while ₹ 10.37 crore supported 411 rural enterprises under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
Under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission, training for 10 women was imparted in the last three years with nil reported placements, indicating limited outcomes in urban employment linkage.
Financial inclusions also saw the participation of women entrepreneurs. A total of 5,24,597 loan accounts held by women were extended support under the PMMY and Stand-Up India Scheme from FY 2022–23 to FY 2025–26 with total loan sanctions amounting to ₹2,903.21 crore. This includes sanctions of ₹ 53.22 crore to 263 women-led enterprises under the Stand-Up India Scheme.
Overall, it reflects the current government efforts for the development of skills, entrepreneurship, and financial accesses of women in Tripura. It contributes to larger economic participation and inclusion.
