Ketan Malik Wins Women's 10m Air Pistol National Title

  • She finished ahead of Paris Olympic double medallist Manu Bhaker
  • Ketan scored 240.0 to claim gold

On Thursday in Haryana, Khetan Malik emerged victorious at the Women 10m Air Pistol National Championship defeating a strong array of competitors including Olympic double champion Manu Bhaker from an Olympics held in Paris.

Khetan won the gold medal with a score of 240.0. Delhi’s Meenu Pathak came in second with a score of 238.4, and Surbhi Rao finished in third place with 219.5 points.

Uttar Pradesh's Vanshika Chaudhary narrowly beat Anjali Shekhawat for the junior women's gold medal by 0.2 points. Palak Gulia earned the bronze medal and is the gold medal champion from the Asian Games.

Lakshita Bishnoi from the Army Marksmanship Unit was crowned as Youth Champion after winning her competition by only 0.6 points against Rashmika Sahgal, while Sanskriti Ban won a third-place finish in this category.

Before the finals, athletes competed for their qualifications to be part of the finals. Over 900 athletes from different states of India were represented during qualifications. There were 39 relay events during the qualifications. Qualifications were completed for the lines for Sunday.

Palak Gulia had the highest qualification score with a total of twenty-four (24) inner 10 out of 582 for individual relay events.

Manu had a total qualification score of 582 which was not the top qualifying score but against Palak Gian had only 19 inner ten's. Ketan Malik qualified for the final with a score of 581, with 16 inner ten's.

Manu, the eventual champion, was among the several finalists, including Mohini Singh (580-19x), Anjali Shekhawat (579-22x), Surbhi Rao(579-22x), Anjali Choudhary (579-19x), Meenu Pathak (579-14x) .

In the championship final, Bhaker earned a score of 137.2 to earn 7th, while Anjali Choudhary won the 8th slot with 110.1. Mohini Singh finished 4th with 197.9 , Anjali Shekhawat placed 6th with a score of 157.5.
