The Indian junior women's hockey team secured another significant victory over Argentina in the Four-Nations Junior Women's Tournament, dominating the match by maintaining their winning streak held in Rosario, Argentina. The team clinched a nail-biting 2-0 shootout victory over Argentina after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Team Argentina struck first with Milagros Del Valle scoring in the 10th minute, providing the hosts a chance to lead. However, forward player Kanika Siwach scored India's lone goal at the 44th minute during the regulation time, equalizing the score.
With no further goals, the match remained scoreless for both teams, leading to a penalty shootout. However, goalkeeper and captain Nidhi pulled off four consecutive saves, while forward player Lalrinpuii and defensive player Lalthantluangi netted in the shootout to secure the victory, maintaining India's winning streak.
Team India will now face Chile on May 30, 2025, hoping to remain unbeaten throughout the tournament.
India's squad consists, Nidhi (Goalkeeper) leading the team as Captain and Hina Bano (Forward) serving as the Vice-Captain.
