- The emphasis is on equipping young people with employable skills and empowering women
- Participating are 368 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) that are part of gender committees
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has started two noteworthy projects in the Amaravati area, marking a major step towards empowering women and equipping young people with employable skills. 368 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) who are on gender committees are undergoing training on gender-based violence awareness as part of these initiatives.
With a focus on preventing workplace harassment and comprehending the duties of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), the sessions seek to educate participants about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act. In the context of ongoing capital development and construction, which is anticipated to bring a significant influx of workers to the area, these trained committee members will be essential in resolving gender-related complaints.
A variety of livelihood options for women in Amaravati's evolving economic environment are also highlighted in the program. SHG women are receiving support and direction on how to take advantage of these chances to become financially independent and empowered.
Under the Skill Hub initiative, APCRDA has been conducting a number of skill development programs concurrently. These include instruction in front desk management, data entry, and painting. On April 24, 22 people signed up for the painting class at the Skill Hub in Thullur. 30 people enrolled in the data entry operator course at Mangalagiri Government College on May 12 and another 30 trainees on May 20. On May 26, 28 people enrolled in a front office training course began. It is anticipated that all courses will end in June or August.
These initiatives, according to APCRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, demonstrate the authority's dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and skilled Amaravati by giving women and young people the tools they need to succeed through targeted education, awareness, and training.
