India Women's Junior Hockey Team Triumphs over Uruguay 3-2 during Four Nations Tournament

The Indian Junior Women's Hockey team secured another consecutive win over Uruguay 3-2 during the Four Nations Tournament in Rosario, Argentina, on May 26, 2025. This comes after their first victory over Chile, 2-1, during their first encounter on May 25. Forward player Kanika Siwach scored a brace for India on the 46th and 50th minutes, whereas another forward player Sonam converted a penalty corner at the 21st minute.

Uruguay successfully took the lead in the first quarter as Milagros Seigal converted a penalty corner in the third minute, whereas India could not find a room.

Indian player Sonam took the charge during the second quarter and got the equalizer through a penalty corner in the 21st minute. However, team Uruguay's Austina Mari scored another goal through a penalty corner at the 24th minute, taking the lead.

The third quarter remained unscored with team Uruguay leading. The final quarter was crucial for Team India to take the charge, where Kanika Siwach's decisive goals helped India emerge victorious. Kanika scored through a penalty corner in the 46th minute, equalizing the score, following a decisive field goal in the 50th minute to claim the victory.

Team India will next face Argentina on May 28, 2025, with Nidhi (Goalkeeper) leading the team along with Forward player Hina Bano as the Vice-Captain.
