India Women are set for a crucial final tune-up ahead of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as they take on England Women in a three-match T20I series in England. The tour is expected to play a key role in helping the team test combinations, fine-tune the batting order, and assess squad depth in challenging English conditions before the global tournament begins on June 12.

India gives their game with a composed and versatile team with Harmanpreet Kaur at the helm and Smriti Mandhana is their vice-captain. The batting unit has Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh, and the middle order will be a big help from Deepti Sharma, who will bring her experience and all-round value for the team.

The bowling attack will once again be spearheaded by Renuka Singh, with emerging talents such as Kranti Goud and Shree Charani adding depth and variety. Nandini Sharma, who has qualified for her first international match to represent India, will also get their attention. On the other hand, Radha Yadav and Yastika Bhatia will look to get match practice after their return from injury.

Key Highlights:

  • India Women face England Women in a key T20I series ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup
  • Harmanpreet Kaur leads a balanced Indian squad with Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh
  • England miss injured captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, while Danni Wyatt-Hodge returns to the squad

India Women are on a rollercoaster ride in the last couple of months. Following their historic ODI World Cup victory in November, they started their campaign well in December 2025, sweeping Sri Lanka Women 5-0 in a T20I series at home.

India went on to defeat Australia Women emphatically 2-1 in their T20I series to improve their spirits ahead of the World Cup. The run of form dipped, though, following a frustrating 1-4 series defeat at South Africa Women, revealing batting consistency and bowling depth issues.

England Women enter the T20 World Cup on a positive note after winning their first two T20I series at home. The series opened with England holding a seven wicket advantage in Derby but losing by 14 runs in the second game.

They recovered and put on a strong performance in the decider in Hove, getting New Zealand out for a mere 80 and then running the target off with seven wickets in hand and then 37 balls. Left arm spinner Linsey Smith was impressive with her six wickets at an economy rate of 4.16 and her 38 places in the ICC Women's T20 bowler ranking are attributable to her performances.

But injury worries have also plagued England ahead of the World Cup. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is out of the T20I series with India Women due to a calf tear, raising doubts about her fitness.

But Danni Wyatt-Hodge has made her way back to the squad after missing New Zealand's series with the birth of her first child and will be ready to face India in the last two games of the series.
