India is set to host the Phase 2 launch of Mission ShakthiSAT alongside National Space Day celebrations, bringing young women from across the world together to promote STEM education, women’s empowerment, space exploration and global collaboration.
The program is expected to attract delegates and representatives from almost 61 countries to India. This is part of the overall Mission ShakthiSAT vision to network and empower 12,000 girls from 108 countries in science, technology, leadership and space exploration.

The Phase 2 program will take place at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, as part of a nine-day program that will see the young women come together for scientific activities as well as learning programs, cultural interactions and discussions on the future of space and technology.
Dr Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of Space Kidz India and Mission Director of Mission ShakthiSAT is the core of the initiative. She has envisioned the program as a space education initiative rather than limited to just that and spread across countries and among young women with shared aspirations and a common love for science and technology.
Dr Srimathy said the girls arriving in India should not be viewed simply as representatives of different countries, but as members of a generation united by common aspirations. She also pointed out that this was an opportunity for the participants to be able to learn different cultures, make new friends and understand that dreams are not country bound.
The upcoming launch of Phase 2 will have a gathering of the government, academia and India's space ecosystem. Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt of India, Dr Jitendra Singh will be the Chief Guest of the program.
Other key speakers are Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, Dr Vinod Kumar, Director of IN-SPACe Promotion Directorate, and Dr Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of Space Kidz India and Mission Director of Mission ShakthiSAT.
The involvement of Government and academic leadership will be expected to emphasize the need for cooperation to enhance opportunities for young women in STEM and space exploration.
The program also has India's philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, the world is one family; at its core in its international outreach. By bringing girls from different nations together, Mission ShakthiSAT seeks to demonstrate how science and education can create common ground for cooperation beyond geographical and cultural boundaries.
For Dr Srimathy, the initiative represents a wider effort to place girls at the centre of India’s space and STEM narrative. Mission ShakthiSAT is intended to make young women feel like active stakeholders in technological advancement and promote them to enter into professions traditionally dominated by males.
The international participation in the launch, the project's focus on women in STEM, women's leadership, scientific education and space exploration, makes it another stride towards achieving more opportunities for the next generation of women innovators and leaders.
