India Exit AFC Women's Asian Cup After 3-1 Loss to Chinese Taipei

India's journey at the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup has come to an end following a 3:1 loss to Chinese Taipei in their final match at Western Sydney Stadium. Chinese Taipei led 2:1 at half-time after scoring their first goal from Su Yu-hsuan in the 12th minute.
India equalised when Manisha Kalyan scored in the 39th minute, but Chinese Taipei regained their lead with Hsu Yi-yun's goal in injury time of the first half (45' + 8'), followed by Chen Yu-ting's goal in the second half (77').
The Indian Football Coach Amelia Valverde made two changes to her starting lineup with Shilky Devi Hemam and Nirmala Devi Phanjoubam coming into the side to replace Nikita lesha and Sanjida Akhter.
India started the game aggressively and had a good opportunity to score in the second minute when Manisha Kalyan's corner was nearly converted by Soumya Guguloth who had a header saved. Following that, Pyari Xaxa was also attempting to score with a 3-yard shot after the previous play failed.
When Nirmala Devi assisted Manisha with a pass to Soumya, and she took a shot, but the shot was off target. In the 10th minute of play, Panthoi Chanu Elangbam saved a crucial shot by YC Chen. Shortly after, due to a mistake in India’s defence, the team conceded a goal.
To stay in contention, India needed to score two goals. In the 26th minute of play, Pyari crossed the ball into the box to Sanfida Nongrum, but the goalie blocked the ball.
Minutes before half time, India equalized when Manisha scored from a free kick after Huang Ke-sin fouled Soumya and the officials reviewed the incident on VAR.
In the last few minutes of the game, Manisha's header from a Kaviya Pakkirisamy corner hit the crossbar.
