India Continues Dominant Performance; Defeat Thailand 13-0 at WAC 2024

The Indian women's hockey team continued its dominant performance at the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 by defeating Thailand 13-0 at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. Following this commanding win, team India secured its place in the semi-finals. Women in Blue earlier defeated Malaysia 4-0 and South Korea 3-2 and continued their legacy by defeating Thailand. They will next compete with team China, who have also been unbeaten in the tournament so far.
India secured second place in the Asian Champions Trophy standings with a nine-point lead, just behind China. With three consecutive wins, India secured their place in the top four, with two games remaining. The top four out of six teams so far include China, India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The Indian women's hockey players showcased phenomenal gameplay, with standout player Deepika scoring five goals (3rd, 19th, 43rd, and 45th minutes). Preeti Dubey contributed two goals (9th and 40th minutes), Lalremsiami smashed two goals (12th and 56th minutes), Manisha Chauhan scored two goals (55th and 58th minutes), whereas Beauty Dung Dung and Navneet Kaur each netted single goals (30th and 53rd minutes respectively).
World No. 29 Thailand struggled to score against India in the initial phase. India's speed and precision earned the match's victory in home soil Bihar. India will face Paris 2024 finalists China on Saturday, the World No. 6 team.
