- The excursion was to Rampura Agucha Mine, the biggest underground zinc-producing mine in the world
- The project seeks to empower female leaders and promote inclusivity in industrial sectors
Strengthening women leaders and building inclusivity in major industrial industries, Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), the largest integrated zinc producer in the world, organized a visit for a delegation from the FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter to its Rampura Agucha Mine, the largest underground zinc-producing mine in the world.
More than 60 women leaders attended, 20 of them each day. The group descended 850 meters below the ground level—lower than Burj Khalifa—to observe next-generation mining technologies. They viewed innovations like LiDAR-equipped tele-remote loaders, predictive maintenance based on IoT, and AI-powered safety monitoring solutions, reflecting the mine's focus on safety, efficiency, and automation.
The guests also got to see a Virtual Reality (VR) shaft winder simulator, reflecting Hindustan Zinc's emphasis on safety and quality training. Some of the other important features were surface-managed tele-remote drilling and in-situ mineral recovery systems catering to sustainability.
This visit was in line with the FICCI FLO Jaipur's 2025–26 theme of Heritage, Health & Harmony, highlighting the combination of tradition and new technology. Some of the topics included the way mining evolved, the incorporation of sustainability, and the growing importance of women in leading industrial advancements.
The tour also brought focus to Hindustan Zinc's environmentally friendly mining methods, like EcoZen, the first low-carbon zinc brand of Asia produced through renewable energy, and Hindustan Zinc's water-positive, Net Zero operating model.
Hindustan Zinc's association with FICCI FLO reflects its commitment to inclusive growth, community empowerment, and giving platforms to future leaders. Being a part of the Vedanta Group, Hindustan Zinc commands 77 percent of market share in India's lead industry and ships zinc to more than 40 countries.
Certified by the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 for being the second consecutive year's most sustainable metals and mining company in the world, Hindustan Zinc persists on leading the front of operational excellence, innovation, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) actions.
