The Women's T20 World Cup final will be held at the legendary Lord's Cricket Ground on July 5, 2026, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Thursday.
Lord's is one of seven elite venues shortlisted for the enlarged 12-team tournament. The other grounds that have been chosen as hosts are Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, the Hampshire Bowl, The Oval, and Bristol County Ground.
Lord's is one of the most hallowed grounds in world cricket, and all players would love to be part of a World Cup final here," ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould said. "This will be the biggest women's cricket tournament ever to take place in England and Wales — a golden opportunity to introduce the sport to an even broader audience.
The tournament will get underway on June 12 and include 33 games over 24 days, guaranteeing a month of quick-burning cricket. Reminding us of a moment from history, ICC Chair Jay Shah stated, "The 2017 Women's World Cup final at Lord's, which was sold out, was a watershed moment in the development of women's cricket.
There's no more appropriate location for the 2026 final." He went on to say that the event will not only thrill fans all over the world but also serve as a compelling build-up to cricket's return at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Eight teams have qualified so far for the tournament, with the other four places to be determined by a qualification process next year.
