Haryana's Anjali Shekhawat Wins Gold at Air Pistol Event

Anjali Shekhawat delivered an outstanding performance to secure the gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the 24th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship, currently underway at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi.

Anjali, who previously scored 576-23x to qualify in the fourth place, improved her score significantly in the final, achieving 240.5 to qualify as the fourth position. Kanak Budhwar from Haryana won the silver with 238.7 and Punjab’s Agam Ranjit Kaur Grewal won the bronze with 216.

During the qualification round, Olympian Esha Singh of Telangana topped the field with a score of 582-20x, followed by Agam Ranjit Kaur Grewal (579-15x) and Haryana’s Muskan Chahal (577-21x). Both Esha Singh and Mahima Turhi Agrawal, who had qualified seventh with 575-20x not started in the final. Kanak Budhwar was now ranked the sixth with 576-13x.

Yuvika Tomar became the fourth place winner among other finalists with 196.1 (576-15x) and Muskan Chahal was at fifth place with 174.8. The Haryana shooter Muskan was ranked sixth with 154.8 (575-19x).

Kanak Budhwar won the gold medal in the junior women 10m air pistol event by achieving a score of 238.4 after her outstanding performance. Priyanshi Purva of Haryana won the silver medal with a score of 237.5 while Ketan secured the bronze medal with a score of 216.8 which allowed Haryana to achieve a complete victory.

The youth women event was also dominated by Kanak who won the gold with a very impressive 244.3. Navya of Haryana won silver with 237.7 and Army Anjali Mahendra Bhagwat took bronze with 215.3.

Haryana also won the team event with Priyanshi Purva, Navya and Surbhi Rao scoring a winning total of 1718.0-48x. Railways won silver with 1710.0-40x, Uttar Pradesh followed them at the 3rd position with 1709.0-50x.

Other notable winners were Mukesh Nelavalli (Andhra Pradesh) who won the gold in the 25m Sports Pistol Men and Junior Men category with a score of 584-21x and Suraj Sharma (Madhya Pradesh) who won the youth men event with a score of 581-21x.
