Harmanpreet Kaur Becomes Most-Capped Female Cricketer
By: Women Entrepreneurs Review Team | Wednesday, 3 June 2026
India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur became the most capped player in the history of women’s international cricket during the third T20I against England in Taunton on Tuesday.
This was her 368th game, beating Suzie Bates' 367 games record. Australia veteran Ellyse Perry is third with 357 games to her name.
Harmanpreet took her first steps towards claiming her place in the series 56 to put India 180 for five in the series decider against the English on her milestone occasion.
Former Indian captain Mithali Raj is also in the top five in this list with 333 matches played in her rich career.
But, it is highly likely that Bates, who continues to play international cricket, will level up with Harmanpreet when New Zealand plays West Indies on 13 June.
Bates is set to hang up his boots after the Women's T20 World Cup. If Harmanpreet continues playing after the tournament she may well be on top of the list for quite some time.
With 664 matches, Sachin Tendulkar is the most capped player in the history of international cricket, together with the records of the men's game. Harmanpreet's total is not too far off from former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh who had a career of 372 internationals.
As the Indian captain, she is the most capped T20I player in women's cricket with 197 caps while the seventh most capped player in women's ODI cricket with 143 caps.
Key Highlights:
- Harmanpreet Kaur became the most-capped player in women’s international cricket (368 matches)
- She celebrated the milestone with a fifty against England
- India is using the series to prepare for the Women’s T20 World Cup
India was determined to win the T20I series against England, but the victory in the individual match was a proud moment. The three-match series is chilling down at 1-1 and India will look to get some big performances from the veteran bowlers like Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and more.
The Indian team wants to address some middle order concerns ahead of the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup later this month and would be looking forward to getting the team's confidence boosted by winning the series against England. This series is being played as a training camp for the next tournament, and is predicted to be a high voltage affair.
With England at stake for the series, Harmanpreet's record-breaking show looks like another important milestone in her career which has been a source of inspiration for the Indian women's cricket team.
The Indian women's squad will have its hopes on the two reliable middle-order players, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh, as it aims to tackle the problem of their middle order at the third and final match of the Women's T20I series against England at the County Club in Taunton on Tuesday.
A win in the decider would signify much more than another bilateral win overseas, when the series is neck in neck. It would give an impetus to both the sides as they prepare for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup later this month.
