Google commemorates International Women's Day 2024 with a Doodle showcasing intergenerational wisdom among women featuring three generations under a quilt along with an orange cat, highlighting their contributions towards arts, academia, and social justice. The quilt kept over the three generational women features progress symbols, highlighting the fight for gender equality, and depicts older generations sharing wisdom with younger generations. Artist Sophie Diao emphasizes the value of learning from past experiences.
International Women's Day (IWD) was first celebrated in 1975 in the United Nations and further it is celebrated every year on March 8 to commemorate two early demonstrations in Saint Petersburg and New York City, aiming to achieve gender equality and fairness. The post acknowledges the courageous acts of women who have paved the way for those who are going to carry the torch further by wishing them a Happy Women's Day.
The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is "Inspire Inclusion," which signifies diversity and empowerment. The day reflects global issues related to gender equality, focusing on women's empowerment, education, eradicating violence, and economic equality. The purple, green, and white colors symbolize justice, dignity, hope, and purity. IWD raises awareness and advocates for change, acknowledging progress in women's rights worldwide.
