Godrej Agrovert's 'Women in Agriculture' Summit to Empower 1 lakh Women

Godrej Agrovert has taken a commendable step towards empowering women in Indian Agriculture. This firm is a prominent player in the agricultural domain that has listed the stats that in India around 60 percent women of 86.1 million women work in the agricultural sector breaking the traditional norm of being a male-dominated sector. In addition to this, around 84 per cent of rural Indian women rely on agriculture for their livelihood and expenditures.
In order to showcase the strength of women dominating the respective field, Godrej Agrovert has hosted the first "Women in Agriculture" summit, emphasizing the need for an ecosystem promoting women in farm fields and agri-businesses. The Managing Director of Godrej Agrovert, Balram Singh Yadav states that empowering women in all sectors of society is non-negotiable as India seeks sustainable development. Godrej Agrovert, in partnership with the Agriculture Skill Council of India and Future Agriculture Leaders of India, aims to empower 1 lakh women in the Agricultural sector of India for sustainable development.
The Agriculture Skill Council of India aims to improve the skills and capacity of farmers, wage workers, and extension workers, promoting gender equality and sustainable development in Indian agriculture.
The Human Resources Head at Godrej Agrovert, Mallika Mutreja mentions that to maximize the potential of women farmers, feminization in the agricultural landscape will help to eradicate the structural inequalities.
