EBL Honours Women Entrepreneurs for Repayment Excellence

The Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) organized a unique appreciation ceremony for women entrepreneurs who showcased exemplary prudence and business success. Held at the head office of EBL in Dhaka on June 17, 2026, the occasion witnessed participation from selected entrepreneurs out of the list of 53 beneficiaries of the incentives.

The awardees were given incentives from the Bangladesh Bank through the Small Enterprise Refinance Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs on account of their excellent repayment behavior. The program reflected the increasing significance of women-owned businesses in economic growth and the need for prudent borrowing practices in the SME sector.

This event acted as a platform for recognizing the important role played by the women entrepreneurs in contributing towards economic development, job creation, and prosperity. By doing so, EBL made an effort to recognize the significance of empowering women entrepreneurs who contribute significantly to the country’s dynamic business environment.

The event was attended by  senior officers from Eastern Bank PLC among whom were Mohammad Salekeen Ibrahim, the head of assets; Md Shabu Munshi, the head of SME business; and Tanzeri Hoque, the head of priority and women banking. Their presence was indicative of the fact that the organization continues to foster its dedication to promoting entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and female entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
