By: WE Staff | Tuesday, 26 March 2024
The DialogueNEXT Series is an initiative by the World Food Prize Foundation that aims to promote dialogue, creative thinking, and cooperative efforts. Driving a special emphasis on the crucial role played by women, the series attempts to address important issues that concern global food security. The U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C. will organize the event on 26 March 2024.
This year's theme of the respective event is "Seeds of Equity: Women Driving Growth and Innovation in Agriculture." The 2023 World Food Prize winner is Heidi Kuhn's Roots and Peace who is also the beneficiary of a unique partnership with the event.
The inaugural event honors Dr. Norman Borlaug, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, and it has been planned to be organized on this birthday during International Women's History Month. In addition to this, it also honors the 10th Anniversary of the unveiling of Dr. Norman's statue in the National Statuary Hall at the US Capitol. The major areas this event will cover include, Equity and Women's Empowerment which will acknowledge and elevate women's contributions to the world's food security. In Agriculture, Innovation, and Technology, it will investigate the best ways to improve agricultural output. Further, Peace Through Agriculture will majorly focus on the part that women play in promoting sustainable agriculture as a means of promoting peace.
The Foundation hopes to take its annual conferences to other global locations through the respective event of DialogueNEXT by following the path of Dr. Norman during the Green Revolution. Through reexamining the places that uphold the legacy of Dr. Norman and an exploration of his experiences, this event aims to generate significant discussions and tackle present barriers and problems related to food security. By encouraging a revolutionary change, this project aims for a more sustainable world. In addition to this, another DialogueNEXT event is planned for 10 July 2024, in CIMMYT's global headquarters in Texcoco, Mexico.
