Bengaluru Industries Top Inclusivity Index for Women in India: Avtar Report

According to the Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI) index by Avtar Group, Bengaluru's industries were the most inclusive towards women in 2024. Bengaluru had the highest Industrial Inclusion Score (IIS) of 81.33 in the country, indicating the city's commitment to promoting women's inclusion in its various industries. The ranking was considered based on three factors: inclusive organizations, inclusive industries, and career enablers.
Following Bengaluru, Mumbai was placed second on inclusivity towards women with 62.96 per cent IIS, followed by Chennai with 61.40 per cent IIS. The top 10 cities that showcased inclusive work environments for women in the list were Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Gurugram, Ahmedabad, and Coimbatore. Additionally, South India is the most inclusive region towards women with an average IIS of 10.11, followed by West India with 9.99 IIS, and East India with 4.47 IIS.
Bengaluru topped the TCWI Index due to its diversity and inclusivity through policies such as flexible work hours, maternity benefits, and safe environments, The city has a supportive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs, including incubators, accelerators, and funding opportunities. Bengaluru hosts numerous networking events and institutions for women professionals. The Karnataka government also supports women in the workforce through the Women Entrepreneurship Program and the Safe City Project.
