By: WE Staff | Wednesday, 8 January 2025
The Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025, organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABRAD), celebrates rural India from January 4 to 9, 2025 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. It brings together government officials, rural entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to promote sustainable rural growth. The event showcases inspiring stories of women-led SHGs, cultural performances, panel discussions, and workshops on entrepreneurship, digital commerce, and organic agriculture, highlighting tribal communities' resilience and contributions to India's cultural and economic landscape.
The Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 offers a unique stage for rural SHGs and entrepreneurs to showcase their work and products to people. Mangal Leima Self-Help Group, founded in 2014 in Khangabok village, Manipur, has grown to empower over 4,000 women artisans. With financial and skill-development support from NABARD, the group produces handcrafted products from Kouna, a locally sourced swamp reed. Organized into 14 women-led SHGs, members earn an average monthly income of Rs. 12,000.
Hodi Craft, initiated by Nazeer in 2015, showcases the rich heritage of the Nicobar Islands through handcrafted artifacts and decor. Located at Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025, it has been awarded a GI tag and provides artisans with a stable monthly income. Nazeer aims to expand Hodi Craft throughout India.
Viraasat Back to Roots Handicraft Producer Company, a Haryana-based company, showcases the craftsmanship of 310 members, including 94 men, who create a variety of handmade products using traditional looms. Supported by NABARD and Swami Rama Foundation Trust, they have undergone specialized training and are now on Amazon, Gatha, Exotic, and their own website. They recently exported 5 dhurries to France, gaining international attention.
Similarly, such artisans and entrepreneurs have placed their stalls during the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 to showcase their passion and creativity.
