Indian Shooter Tejaswini wins Gold in Women's 25m Pistol at ISSF Junior World Cup 2025

India's top shooter Tejaswini won a gold medal in the women's 25m pistol event at the ISSF Junior World Cup, putting India ahead of China in the medals tally. The 20-year-old Haryana shooter scored 31 in the final, surpassing Alina Nestsiarovich with 29 and Miriam Jako with 23. This achievement marked Tejaswini's first individual World Cup medal and India's third gold in the tournament, alongside four silver and four bronze medals.
Tejaswini, starting 24th, scored 282 out of 300 points in the first round. In the second round, she shot 293, bringing her total to 575 and the fourth position in the 50-strong field. She is the only Indian to reach the top eight, as Roya Shirish Thatte missed out by four points, while Miriam, a double junior European Champion, took the eighth spot.
Tejawini won the 10 series of five rapid-fire shots final, battling Chinese qualification topper Zhao Taotao with two consecutive scores of four. Despite challenges from Cheng Yen-Ching, Miriam, and Alina, Tejaswini closed out clinically.
Indian athletes Naamya Kapoor and Divanshi secured 18th and 24th place in the ISSF Junior competition, respectively, while Riya finished 15th overall. India has now won four of the last five competitions.
The ISSF Junior World Cup 2025, an international shooting competition for junior athletes from 59 nations, started on May 19 to May 27, 2025. The event took place in Suhl, Germany (first leg), and will play the second leg in New Delhi, Indiaduring September-October. India topped the medals tally with 11 medals - 3 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze, surpassing China.
