12 Tamil Nadu Women to Receive Kamaraj Awards on Gandhi Jayanthi

 ‘We The Leaders’, founded by former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, will confer the Kamaraj Awards on women achievers on Gandhi Jayanthi as part of its observance of October 2026 as Women Empowerment Month.

The awards will recognize women whose contributions have improved lives, strengthened communities and inspired others, while their work may not have received adequate public recognition, said Aspire K Swaminathan, general secretary of ‘We The Leaders’.

Women across Tamil Nadu have been making contributions in fields such as education, agriculture, community development and social service. Many continue to work quietly while creating an impact in their communities.

• The awardees will receive the honor from K Annamalai and share their experiences

The Kamaraj Awards aim to highlight the stories of such women and recognize their commitment to perseverance, service, leadership and social responsibility.

Some 12 excellent women from various walks of life and from across Tamilnadu have been identified and honored this year.

The awardees have excelled in their respective areas due to their persistent efforts, commitment and contribution.

The award is introduced in the memory of “Perunthalaivar” Kamaraj, who remains a symbol of simplicity, integrity and commitment for education and welfare of the ordinary people in public life.

In this way, “We The Leaders” hopes to honor women who continue to embody these values in their work and service.

The awardee will then be invited onto the dais to receive this honour from Annamalai and then give a short talk to the audience about her thoughts and her experience.

Annamalai has started various social activities and events in Tamil Nadu after the launch of "We The Leaders".

In recent years, Annamalai went to Madurai to participate in the “Vaigai Sirpi” awards event where the “ Vaigai Sirpi” movement is pushing for a massive cleanup drive in Vaigai river, which removed about 1.63 lakh kg of waste from the river.

Annamalai also spoke at public meetings like Signograph 4.0 on 25th September on the themes of corruption, free governance, transparency, people participation and prohibition of drug and liquor abuse.

“Urged our Indian entrepreneurs to invest more in innovation and personal fulfillment. India’s next phase of growth will be driven not just by the scale of our businesses, but by the ambition, innovation and courage of our entrepreneurs to solve tomorrow’s problems today,” Annamalai said.

He also recently claimed “in many constituencies, more than 30,000 leaders are part of our ‘We The Leaders’ organization. In every constituency, we must set as our goal the creation of at least 30,000 leaders on behalf of our organization”.
