Women’s World Cup Format & Venue:

The 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup promises to be a landmark chapter in cricketing history. Scheduled from September 30 to November 2, the 13th edition of the tournament will feature eight teams competing in a round-robin league, with the top four advancing to the semifinals. Co-hosted by India, marking its fourth time as host, and Sri Lanka, making its hosting debut, the competition will also be remembered as the final edition to feature only eight teams, paving the way for greater representation in future editions.

Matches will unfold across five iconic venues, including Navi Mumbai, Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo. Warm-up games from 24-28 September will set the stage before the main tournament ignites.

World Cup Teams & Timings:

India, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur with Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain, will launch their campaign against Sri Lanka at Guwahati on 30 September. The following day, Australia and New Zealand renew their Trans-Tasman rivalry in Indore. However, the most anticipated clash arrives on 5 October, when India faces Pakistan in Colombo, a contest that carries as much emotion as it does cricketing significance.

The grand finale is scheduled for 2 November, with Navi Mumbai set as the main venue, unless Pakistan qualifies for the final, in which case, Colombo will take center stage.

All matches of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 will begin at 3:00 PM IST (09:30 AM GMT), bringing together eight participating teams: India, Australia (defending champions), New Zealand, South Africa, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. In India, fans can catch the action live on Star Sports 1 Hindi and Star Sports 2 (HD/SD), or stream it seamlessly on JioCinema and JioTV apps.

Tickets Available On:

Tickets for the tournament are not live yet, but fans can start preparing to secure their seats once sales open. Tickets will be available through the official ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 portal, along with partner platforms expected to include BookMyShow and Paytm Insider for India, and the PCB and SLC ticketing portals for matches hosted in Sri Lanka. According to updates, ticket sales are expected to begin in early September 2025, providing fans with ample time to plan their World Cup experience.

Change in Venue:

The ICC Women's World Cup 2025 has seen a key venue change, with matches shifted from Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium due to safety and logistical concerns. Following a tragic stampede during IPL celebrations on June 4 that claimed 11 lives, the Justice (Retd.) Michael D’Cunha Commission declared Chinnaswamy unfit for major events, prompting Bengaluru police to deny hosting permissions and the Karnataka State Cricket Association to confirm its inability to secure clearances. ICC Chairman Jay Shah hailed Navi Mumbai as a “genuine home for women’s cricket,” highlighting its strong fan base and electric atmosphere.
