Bringing Structure, Strategy and Soul to Wedding Planning Women leaders are increasingly reshaping industries that once depended heavily on convention, bringing with them a blend of empathy, resilience, strategic thinking and an ability to build businesses around evolving customer expectations. In the wedding and events industry, where creativity must coexist with precision and stakeholder management, this leadership approach is particularly significant. Jyotishreya Dass, Founder & Director of KAmberly, represents this shift through a career built on purposeful entrepreneurship and deeply personalized celebration planning.

Her connection with weddings began unexpectedly when she was barely four years old. While attending a cousin’s wedding, a few drops of haldi fell on her newly bought suede shoes, leaving her deeply upset. In that moment, she declared that if she ever organized weddings, they would be managed much better. Decades later, that childhood remark became an unlikely precursor to a professional journey that has now spanned around 16 years in wedding planning.

Her upbringing in a large family further strengthened her natural affinity for celebrations. Surrounded by weddings from an early age, she actively participated in shopping, function planning, music selection and other details that shape memorable occasions.

Today, through KAmberly, Jyotishreya channels these varied experiences into a leadership style that combines creativity with structure. Her journey reflects how women entrepreneurs can transform instinct, lived experience and emotional intelligence into scalable, professional businesses while creating more thoughtful and experience-driven models for India’s wedding industry. Let’s dive in to know more.

Jyotishreya Dass blends creativity, structure & empathy to create personalized, sustainable celebrations while redefining professionalism across india’s wedding industry

KAmberly takes a highly personalized approach to wedding planning. What market gap inspired you to build the company around this philosophy?

KAmberly was built on two core principles. First, I believe every wedding should reflect the client’s vision rather than fit into a predetermined template. Budget is important, but the final choices should remain with the client. My role is to understand their aspirations and translate them into a meaningful celebration. Second, sustainability has always been integral to our philosophy. A part of our earnings supports environmental causes, and we consciously adopt eco-friendly practices within the organization. For me, personalization and responsibility are equally important, and both continue to define how KAmberly approaches every celebration.

How have your client experiences shaped the way you lead KAmberly and build its reputation in the wedding industry?

My clients have played a major role in shaping the way I lead KAmberly. Early in my career, I trained with a well-known wedding planner in Delhi and worked closely with senior business leaders and affluent families. Observing their clarity, focus and decisionmaking taught me a great deal about professionalism. I also learned that wedding planning works best when the client and planner operate as one team. Over time, these experiences encouraged me to introduce stronger systems, standard operating procedures and defined processes. In many ways, I consider my clients my mentors because their expectations have continuously influenced how KAmberly has evolved.

Luxury weddings demand both creativity and precision. How do you ensure that your team delivers consistently under such complex circumstances?

Luxury weddings are complex because they involve not only multiple tasks, but also multiple emotions and expectations. Parents, grandparents, relatives and close friends may all have different priorities. I therefore believe structure is essential. At KAmberly, we have mapped the entire planning journey from the first client discussion to final closure. Our team follows defined processes, documentation practices and standard operating procedures for every event. Having handled close to 100 events, I have seen how these systems help us remain prepared. We cannot predict every emotional or last-minute situation, but we can ensure that everything within our control is organised and accountable.

Which trends will shape the future of weddings in India, and where do you see opportunities for women entrepreneurs?

I believe destination weddings will continue to grow, particularly as celebrations become smaller, more intimate and more personalized. Indian destinations will also become increasingly prominent as couples explore meaningful locations within the country. I see strong opportunities for women across the wedding and events industry because the profession requires both emotional intelligence and commercial understanding. A planner must be able to reassure a family member about rituals one moment and discuss budgets and logistics the next. Women often bring empathy, communication and relationship-building strengths that are valuable in this environment. Planning, coordination, décor and specialized event services all offer strong entrepreneurial opportunities.

What is your long-term vision for KAmberly, and what kind of legacy do you hope to create as a woman entrepreneur?

My long-term vision is to build KAmberly into a significantly larger, globally connected organization, with the potential to reach a stage where it could even be listed on the stock market. I see opportunities to collaborate with agencies across countries and become involved in Indian weddings wherever they take place worldwide. I also want to contribute to greater structure within the events industry through stronger standards, accountability and professional systems. At KAmberly, we are also exploring AI integration in our day-to-day operations, with initiatives planned over the next 12–18 months. Ultimately, I want to build an organization that combines scale, innovation and professionalism.
