Young Footballer ManishaKalyan to be the first Indian to play in UEFA Women's Champions League

Ace footballer ManishaKalyanhas been signed by Cyprus champions Apollon Ladies. This will make Manisha the first Indian to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Manisha’s former club Gokulam Kerala tweeted a congratulatory message on Sunday, making the news public. The Tweet read, “Thank you, Manisha! After 3 illustrious years as a Malabarian and winning two IWL titles with us, Manisha has signed a two-year deal with Cypriot Champion Club Apollon Ladies. She is all set to become the first Indian to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season”.
Manisha’s new club Apollon will be a part of round 1 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifier on August 18. If the victory is theirs, the club will then face the winners of Switzerland’s FC Zurich and Faroe Island’s KlaksvikKvinnur.
In November 2021 Manishahad scored India’s first ever goal against Brazil in senior football. Although the Indian team lost the match, yet it was a historic moment for the young player.
Manishahad debuted inthe senior team debut in January 2019 where she played against Hong Kong. She played a critical role in Gokulam Kerala’s triumph in the 2019-20 Indian Women’s League (IWL). The 20 year old was also named as the emerging player of the tournament.
Manisha aspires to represent India in World Cup one day.
