WTA Names Valerie Camillo as New Chairperson

- Valerie Camillo will serve as Chairperson of the WTA, starting November 17

The WTA appointed Valerie Camillo as the new Chairperson, effective November 17. She takes over from Steve Simon, who was at the helm for almost a decade. The new role is a demonstration of the WTA's continued evolution toward more commercial orientation and enhanced governance.
Valerie has more than 20 years of U.S. sports industry leadership experience. She started her career in management consulting and subsequently worked with the NBA's Team Marketing and Business Operations.
Her job experience has involved Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer for the Washington Nationals and President and CEO of the Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center.
Her experience in revenue growth, fan development, and mega-sized operations informs the WTA's goals of global reach and sustainable development.
Valerie assumes office at a critical moment for the organization. WTA is dealing with an antitrust suit brought by the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) and is negotiating with the ATP over potential merging of commercial assets. Ongoing priorities are player welfare, scheduling, and equitable revenue distribution.
WTA Ventures, the commercial arm of the WTA, demonstrated 25 percent revenue growth in 2024 and a strong business performance.
It is anticipated that percent's addition will add to that momentum through new approaches in branding, partnerships, and global reach.
The company has challenges with legal issues as well as a responsibility to improve and evolve while maintaining the role of tradition, nevertheless percent's business skills uniquely position her to guide the WTA through this transitional time and help ensure women's tennis continues to thrive worldwide.
