AP Women's Commission Calls for Joint Efforts to Empower Women

Dr. Rayapati Sailaja, the head of the Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission, underscored the significance of working together for the development and welfare of women.
She acknowledged that there are responsibilities by women's organizations, government departments, and commission in achieving and engendering workplaces."
On Tuesday, the head of the NGO in AP, along with members of the Arrested Agents Society, welcomed Dr. Rayapati at the commission office in Mangalagiri.
She thanked the women members and they all discussed the issues that women workers faced, safety wears and enforcement of the gender-sensitive policy.
The meeting illustrated several issues including individual bathroom facilities for female staff in offices, if there were engaged night watchmen and if baby care centres were available in offices.
Other issues involved health sector administration needing female nurses for night shift work, internal committees for POSH work and displaying educational boards for social awareness.
The members also recommended activities like cervical cancer awareness campaigns, EHS master health check-ups for female staff, and gender sensitisation programmes between departments.
Dr. Rayapati promised that the commission would take active steps to resolve these issues. She promised to launch awareness programmes on women's rights and labour laws in the state and stated a report with all the issues faced by women employees would be compiled and submitted to the government along with suggestions.
She also emphasized that women employees must be informed about the welfare facilities and legal safeguards extended to them and demanded more institutional support mechanisms. Dr. Rayapati agreed to cooperate with the AP NGO Association for future empowerment programs.
The meeting was participated by All India State Government Employees Federation convener M. Rajyalakshmi, publicity secretary B. Janaki, and departmental representatives Lalithamba, Nagamalleswari, Sulochana, Vijayalakshmi, Marpu Trust Director R. Suez, and Women's Commission section officer Sailaja.
