Women Secure Four of Top Five Ranks in Latest UPSC Results

- The Union Public Service Commission declared the results on Tuesday
- Four women bagged top five ranks for the second year in a row
- Ishita Kishore stood first in All India Rank
For the 2nd year in a row, women dominated the top results at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, having four out of the top five finishers on Tuesday.
In the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022, Ishita Kishore was 1st overall, followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra in respective 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Mayur Hazarika of Assam was in 5th place.
The UPSC CSE Preliminary exam was administered on June 5, 2022 and results were released on June 22. Union Minister Jitendra Singh publicly congratulated those who passed through social media after final results were released.
According to the official release, 933 candidates were recommended to various services (613 men; 320 women).
Ishita holds a degree in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University; Garima Lohia has a degree in Commerce from Kirori Mal College; Uma Harathi N is a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Hyderabad; Smriti Mishra graduated with B.Sc from Miranda House.
Last year Shruti Sharma's 1st place finish was also the only female finishers in the next 2 spots.
