Indian Women Boxers Shine on Day 7 of Asian Championships

- All women Indian boxers secured themselves medals before moving to the semifinals
Day 7 of the Asian Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) has brought more success for Indian women boxers, as both Meenakshi and Jaismine have achieved unanimous decision victories during the tournament's first morning round.
With their wins today, all Indian female boxers are guaranteed medals before the semifinals. In the women's 48kg division, Meenakshi won 5-0 against Yuka Sadamatsu (Japan); in the 57kg class, Jaismine beat Ziyi Chen (China) 5-0. As a result, all Indian women remain in contention for medals and continue to perform consistently at the continental level.
Minakshi will meet Thailand’s Thipsatcha Yodwaree, while Jaismine will face Uzbek Olympian Nigina Uktamova.
With these wins, both winners earned medals and will now move into their respective semifinals. There are still many more rounds remaining for India in this tournament, as India is still playing in both categories in this championship.
In the men’s category, Lokesh (85kg) qualified with a convincing score of 5-0 against Gichae Kim of Korea. Akash qualified with a 5-0 scoreline against Yhlas Bagtyyarov of Turkmenistan, while Harsh Choudhary qualified with his victory over Tynystan Alybaev of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The men’s semifinals have witnessed Indians’ entry into this stage. Ankush (80kg) has been knocked out of the event by Hussein Iashaish of Jordan.
As there are still some semifinals left in the tournament, India will fight on with their boxing campaigns in the championships.
