The Women’s Legal Awareness program was conducted on Thursday at the Panchayat Bhawan Auditorium in the Tehsil Sadar by the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA).
Shubhi Gupta, an additional district and session judge and secretary of the DLSA, informed the participants about the significance and methodology of the National Commission for Women as well as the availability of free legal aid from the State Legal Services Authority, Lucknow, and DLSA Kanpur.
She further stated that numerous women continue to experience domestic violence. The fear of becoming financially dependent on someone or something and losing their home was also a major reason for not speaking out about the problems faced due to domestic violence. She explained the acts provided by the government for women's welfare such as women's property rights, the marriage act, and the maintenance act.
Shagun Panwar, a principal judge of the family court mentioned the family issues. VSSD Law College Professor Pulatsa Shukla spoke about pregnancy acts in the Medical Treatment Act, of 1971. ADJ-XIII Surendra Pal Singh talked about the POCSO Act and civil and criminal litigation.
According to the directives presented by the National and State Legal service authorities, the district judge organized the Legal Awareness camp.
