Women's Javelin Champion Annu Rani grabs Gold in Asian Games 2023

Following the legacy of Javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, India has received another Javelin champion in the women's category at the Asian Games 2023.
Annu Rani grabbed gold for India in the women's javelin throw event on Tuesday in Hangzhou, earning her second medal from the Asian Games and her first gold. In her fourth attempt, Annu's javelin throw of 62.92 meters allowed her to take the lead. Dilhani Lekamge of Sri Lanka won the silver with a best throw of 61.57 meters and Lyu Huihui of China won bronze with a throw of 61.29 meters.
Annu marked 56.99 meters on her first attempt, and 61.28 meters on her second attempt, in her third attempt she placed the Javelin at 59.24 meters, and on the fourth 62.92 meters. She made a throw of 57.66 meters to extend her lead which became a foul but by that point, she already secured the gold.
At the Asian Games 2023, six of the eight finals where Indian athletes qualified for, grabbed their medals. Tejaswini Shankar in the men's decathlon and Mohammed Afsal in the men's 800m both took home silver medals. In the men's triple jump, Praveen Chithravel clinched the bronze medal, just millimeters ahead of Abdulla Aboobacker, who came in fourth.
In the women's 400m hurdles, Indian athlete Vithya Ramraj took the bronze medal whereas Parul grabbed a silver in the mixed relay race. Pooja and Rubina Yadav finished their campaigns in the women's high jump final in sixth and ninth positions respectively.
